About Sally:

Sally loved running, and loved racing. She had recently won the Rock N' Roll Arizona Marathon and was on her way to the Olympic Trials. With such a strong run and fitness level, she was also ready to take the triathlon world by storm by leveraging her marathon. All of these dreams were ended on March 8th, 2011 when Sally was struck by a vehicle while riding her bike. Sally grew up running for Mountain Pointe Highschool in Arizona and had been a vital part of the Arizona athletic community for years. A common site at most local races would be Sally, in her typical attire of pink compression socks, and some article of clothing which had at least an inch of cheetah print on it. Even though she did not have the most typical outfit on, I think most local AZ runners have the same visual memory of those pink socks slowly going off into the distance.

Why we will run:

Sally's death took the endurance athlete community by surprise. One of our most brightest stars was taken from us. What better way to honor our fallen star than by giving her a road race. Sally loved to run races, and could be found at even some of the "tiniest" local races. This is why we have created the Sally Meyerhoff 5k. All proceeds from this race will go to benefit the Sally Meyerhoff Foundation.
Sally loved to push the limit, with a personal 5k PR of 16:23. She had recently set this PR at the Tempe Skirt chaser 5k in February (for more of her personal best times Click Here).

Come join us on December 8th at Kiwanis Park to do what Sally loved best.

"Be Relentlessly Positive!" - Sally Meyerhoff.

What else will I get from this run?

All runners will receive a one-of-a-kind collecters edition race t-shirt.

Course:

Follow canal sidewalk, make right toward lake, go under cute little bridge, run around soccer field and bring it home for the win, simple.

The course is now official USAT certified! Here is the official certification and course map.
